As you may have already heard, Congress has blown a hole in the District’s budget by withholding local $1 billion of our own local funds. This failure puts essential public services at risk—sanitation, public safety, health care, and more. It directly threatens our jobs.
The Senate quickly passed a fix, the District of Columbia Local Funds Act, 2025 (S. 1077). President Donald Trump supports a quick fix, saying “The House should take up the D.C. funding ‘fix’ that the Senate has passed and get it done IMMEDIATELY.”
Action: Tell House Leadership to Restore DC's Budget NOW
Unfortunately, anti-worker extremists in the U.S. House have stalled the bill. Backed by billionaire interests, these Representatives want to extract concessions from our city before they will fix it, if they will fix it at all.
If the House doesn’t fix this manufactured crisis, we will be fighting furloughs, service reductions, layoffs and more. And the impact to the city will be even more devastating.
The unions of Comm unit 1 & 2 are standing together to fight back. Members of AFSCME, AFGE, NAGE and FOP are taking action. Click the button below to send a letter to House leadership. Tell them to fix this crisis.
This crisis was manufactured—and it can be reversed. We need urgent action. We need to stand together. We need our leaders to know we’re watching and fighting back. Sending a letter with AFGE makes it clear to all our leaders that we aren’t backing down from the fight.
